Email Signatures - Getting Even More Traffic

Introduction to Email Signatures

Chances are extremely good that you have multiple email accounts and send at least 3 emails a day. But have you ever thought of using your emails as little sales forces, driving precious traffic to your web sites? If you haven't, read on and even if you have and is now doing so, I would still recommend that you check out the rest of the page for more tips on getting traffic.

Emails are powerful little marketing tools that very few use to their advantage. And even those that do, tend not to do it correctly thereby defeating its very purpose.

The easiest way to learn what NOT to do and what to actually do would be to look at examples and that's what we'll do ...

Email Signatures

Ready?

Ok ... first up, here's a look at what people typically do in their signatures (without advertising their site):

Best Regards,

[Person's name here ... e.g David Gray]

The question is .. If you're going to be sending out emails anyway, why not subtlely advertise about your products and services as well? You never know when your next sale (worse still, your next BIG customer) is going to come from.

Now, let's take a look at an example of what most people do (those that do put up a link to their site that is):

Kind Regards,

[Person's name here .. e.g John Brown]

http://www.croyfray.com (This is a totally fictitious example)

No doubt there is a link to the site but ... can you see what the BIGGEST mistake is?

There are no benefits and no clue as to what the site is about ... Busy people have NO TIME to find out what you do in your business. It never works to your advantage if you don't talk about your advantage. If you are going to continue using the last method, you might as well not put up a link in the first place. Period!

Have I brought the point across?

And so ... "What would be a good way to get traffic to my site then?" you ask.

Let's now take a look at 2 good examples:

Take care,

Can you see how this works much more effectively?

Email signatures are essentially ads (you can see them on cards as well) and these ads can be very powerful. And how would you like a friend to be your customer? Heheh ...

Couple Of Tips For Email Signatures :

1) Keep It Short and Simple

2) Keep It Attractive (yes, i'm repeating myself on other pages as well ... but copywriting is EVERYTHING)

3) Make It Benefit-Driven

4) Bribe Them If You Have To ... Like "Free Reports" or "Free Samples" etc

5) Use Deadlines When Feasible

6) Set Up A Tracking System To See How Many People Came Via Your Email Signature

7) Email Signatures really do work. Why do you think you see them on cards?

Now that everything's been said and done ... Go straight to your email client and customize your signature. Spend time fine-tuning it (Tip: Ask someone for opinions) and you might just land the next big customer in less than 24 hours.

All the very best!
